The Office of Educational Assessment and Accountability Strives to Keep Student Assessments Fair
In order to fairly measure student achievement on the new Michigan Merit Curriculum, testing must be standardized across the state of Michigan. The primary function of the Office of Educational Assessment and Accountability (OEAA)—which is part of the Michigan Department of Education (MDE)—is to establish, develop, and conduct a state assessment system that fairly and accurately reflects the state’s content standards at all grade levels.
Professional Assessment and Accountability Practices for Educators is an ethics document developed by OEAA. The document represents the expected ethical conduct of educators who administer assessments developed by OEAA on behalf of the MDE with approval from the State Board of Education. In this document, you’ll find information about roles and responsibilities, assessment security, assessment preparation, student unethical practices, determining irregularities and unethical practices, data reporting practices, a glossary, and more.
