Dr. Jeremy Hughes Receives MAISA Education Fellows Award
The Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators (MAISA) recently awarded its Education Fellows Award to Dr. Jeremy Hughes. Dr. Hughes, who served as Michigan’s Interim Superintendent of Public Instruction from February to July 2005, received the award for his life-long commitment and dedication to the education of children in Michigan.
MAISA presents the Education Fellows award each year to individuals who serve MAISA, intermediate school districts, or K–12 education in one or more of the following ways: long term contribution of service or resources, service above self interests, advocacy for the programs and service of public education, or leadership or public service on behalf of public education.
“As a superintendent of Haslett Pubic Schools and Dearborn Public Schools and in his role as Interim Superintendent of Public Instruction with the Michigan Department of Education, Dr. Hughes is acknowledged as a true leader, a quality public servant, and a genuine champion of public education,” said MAISA president, Graydon Blank.
Dr. Hughes received his award at MAISA’s June 2005 summer conference. MAISA is comprised of superintendents and administrators of the 57 intermediate school districts across Michigan. MAISA’s mission is to provide visionary leadership and quality services to strengthen teaching and learning for all citizens.
