FOCUS on Results Supports Special Education Stakeholders with Technical Assistance, Guidance, and Advice

Focus on Results TemplateThe Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services (MDE,OSE/EIS) is committed to improving the performance of students with disabilities. The need for accurate and timely information among special education stakeholders has never been greater. The Center for Educational Networking (CEN) has been addressing this communication need for the past several years with valuable publications including Newsline and Investing in Our Students, a Web site for electronic resources and publications, and many other documents. CEN is no longer publishing Newsline and Investing in Our Students; however, two new communication efforts will help the MDE, OSE/EIS continue to share information with a broad base of special education stakeholders:

  • FOCUS on Results

Guidance and Technical Assistance documents called FOCUS on Results will be available several times a year to keep stakeholders up-to-date on current changes in rules and regulations, dispute resolution, individualized education programs (IEPs), assessment, quality assurance, and other valuable topics. Former Newsline subscribers will automatically receive FOCUS on Results. Other interested subscribers can visit www.cenmi.org to subscribe electronically or contact: CEN, Eaton Intermediate School District, 1790 E. Packard Hwy., Charlotte, MI 48813, (800) 593-9146, fax 541-1351, info@cenmi.org.

The Center for Educational Networking (CEN) maintains the www.cenmi.org Web site, formerly known as the web site of the Michigan State Improvement Grant (SIG). This site presents information about subscribing to publications online and continues to maintain updated information, personnel development resources including learning opportunities for parents, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators, among others. Visitors to the site can view a calendar and listing of workshops, conferences, and other personnel development events and possible links to documents, products, registrations, and other web sites related to the events. In addition, CEN has archived past issues of Newsline and Investing in our Students in electronic format and they are available in the Products section of the Web site. If you are not a Web user, you can contact CEN at the address above for more information about print versions of these publications.
