Stay Informed About Reauthorization of the IDEA
The
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
guarantees a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive
environment to students with disabilities. At the time Congress
passed IDEA in 1975, more than a million students with disabilities
were warehoused in institutions. Today, most students with disabilities
are educated in regular classrooms alongside their peers without
disabilities.
